Joy Deangdeelert Cho, the founder and designer behind Oh Joy! Studio, began her career as a graphic designer at a boutique advertising agency in New York. Joy transitioned into home accessories and textile design at Cynthia Rowley designing home accessories for the Swell line at Target. In 2006 she opened her studio, transferring the love for color and pattern developed during her years in the textile and print design industries to her work with a variety of clients in home accessories, surface patterns, packaging and corporate branding. A few past and present clients include Mattel, Target, Charlotte Ronson, Michele Varian and Urban Outfitters. In 2007, she branched out with a collection of ready-made stationery which can be found in retail boutiques and shops nationwide, in addition to her website, OhJoy.com. She also authors the well-read blog, Oh Joy! (ohjoy.blogs.com), which Time Magazine featured as one of the top websites in their "Design 100" issue.
IN THE PRESS:Joy's work has been featured in Lucky Magazine, Daily Candy, Time, HOW, Cookie, People, WWD, Brides, Craft, and Bride & Bloom, and more.
EVERYDAY INSPIRATION:Joy says she finds inspiration for her designs when she tries to picture them as something a family would keep in their scrapbook or album and happily look back on for years to come.
CELEBRATING CARDS:"I completely understand why email and the internet has become easier and quicker for everyone to communicate, but I think letter and card writing should still be made a priority for important events, announcements, and special occasions. In a time when emails are such a huge part of communication, receiving a letter or personal note in the mail feels even more rare and special… like the person took an extra pause out of their busy lives to think of you and write a card or letter."
